Our ambition is to make the farm as eco friendly as we possibly can. We recognise that we have a long way to go but each year we try and reduce our carbon footprint and increase the biodiversity of the site.
Our philosophy
Energy
All our electricity is from wind power via Ecotricity. Unfortunately, we have an oil central heating system but increased insulation is reducing our needs annuallly. We have two wood burnng stoves in the Stables for those who prefer to snuggle up to a real fire. All our wood is seasoned and sustainably sourced.
Products
We use eco washing products, interior paints and low impact building materials. Our stone, wood and fittings are recycled, locally supplied or sustainably manufactured.
Biodiversity
We are trying to encourage the biodiversity of local fauna and wildlife. As a result we allow the summer grasses and hedgerows to flourish and try and avoid extensive mowing and prestine lawns !
Water
All our water comes from our own spring. The water flows through an ultraviolet lamp which kills any potential bacteria. It is checked by the National Park every year.

We try and encourage our visitors to buy local and support the local businesses. We are not Tesco friendly !

We recycle everything we can and ask our visitors to compost organic waste! We are trying to make the farm a no plastic bag zone !
